"There are a number of good grassroots organizations effectively solving Africa and/or country specific problems. It is very difficult for them to get the attention of grant funders who are based mostly outside Africa, even if these organizations have offices in Africa. These organisations are small, and fundraising takes a great deal of time" - Ron Boehm
The Pamoja Africa Impact fund that seeks these small, successful, yet struggling organisations and bring them together to speed up their success by sharing their problems, solutions and their processes, build their capacity and drive more unrestricted funding from philanthropists who believe in local solutions and want to help scale their model across African communities
Pamoja Africa Impact Fund supports Africa led grassroots Organisations to collaborate, co-innovate, builds their capacity and drives un-restricted funding to become sustainable and scale impact in underserved communities across Africa.

Our Story
The Pamoja Africa Impact Fund was founded in 2023 by two Ugandan Opportunity Collaboration alumni and Cordes fellows, Aaron and Ricky . The two have a history of collaboration dating back to 2018; together they have raised $2m USD for their African-led organizations:

The two have attended multiple philanthropic gatherings and workshops that led to multiple capacity building opportunities for themselves including monitoring, evaluating and learning opportunities focused on the areas of fundraising and program management best practices, presentation skills, and strategic plan development. They co-facilitated successful peer-to-peer educational workshops in fundraising and cultivating new donor relationships at several workshops. This knowledge sharing experience and collaboration, launched the birth of the Pamoja Africa Impact Fund. The Fund’s initial cohort has since expanded to include mentor organizations who are already operating at a larger scale, such as One Heart Foundation, thus they can provide further support and insight to younger organizations.

At the Pamoja Africa Impact Fund we understand the value of bringing together diverse organizations for collaboration. We seek to expand our network of the portfolio across Africa, and introduce new grassroots organizations to one another who would otherwise not have the opportunity to interact and collaborate. Our fund focuses on diversifying regional networks and providing training opportunities and mentorship via our ”Innovation Lab” program to increase organizational capacity and resource mobilization. In doing so, we help these burgeoning organizations to be ready and reachable for international donors interested in supporting the grassroots movement across Africa.
